My Joy by Michelle: From the Sewing Room

I have been staying with my folks while my hubby is overseas so the kids can have some nana and papa time. So mom has a group of ladies that come over every now and then to sew for charity great right well they are coming over tomorrow to sew children's quilts. So today I thought I would give my smelly dog a bath so everyone would be happy plus mom got her carpet cleaned today. Anyway I wash him up really well and stick him in the dog yard so he can dry and what do I get for all my hard work he goes and rolls in the dirt while he is still wet!!!!!!!!

So I was yard sail-ing with my MIL last weekend and came across these Super Heroes in need of a home. Anyone know where I can find Superman?? I have looked in a few stores and have yet to find him. Did he go back to his fortress of solitude? Superman you need to come back by Sep. you have to make an appearance and A's birthday. Come back soon!!!!

I must say I can cut a pieces of fabric in to hundreds of pieces and make it in to something that looks good. I can't however say the same about the boys hair. Last time I tried cutting them I thought I would just trim around the ears and shave the neck well this turned into shaves heads for both boys and so this time I took them to my hair stylist and she fixed them up real nice. Now why is it that they don't sit for me but they sat nice and still for her? Well some day I might give it a try again.

Well in the process of potty training my little one and have made him waterproof training pants which I love. We are on vacation for the summer and don't know if we just aren't getting laundry done as often or we have lost some but he keeps telling me he doesn't have any undies so time to sit down and make some more.

Ok so I have been working on some grocery bags and a wine bag for my uncle and all was going well till you hand me a pattern. I buy patterns to make something once then tweak to work better the way I sew so I joule have made the wine bag out of scrap then the fabric but I didn't so when things weren't going the way I wanted them I just had to keep going. All turned out ok but with a few changes a 6 hr project can be done in 4 and look just as nice but be less of a headache.

So while lots of people are going green I am giving it a go as well. I have started making fabric grocery bags. My Uncle has commissioned me to make him a set of bags and a wine bag that will hold 4 bottles of wine. Will be posting pics as I get these items finished.

So I really wanted to post pictures of Batman so I didn't introduce myself. Hello I am MJ and I have NOT always loved to sew but thanks to my friend Katie and being a newly wed and no money at Christmas time I learned and have not stopped. That was 7 1/2 years ago now and 3 sewing machines later. My first project was a quilt for my mom who is an avid sewer and the one who always wanted to teach me how to sew. Needless to say in the last 7 years my sewing skills have gotten more advanced and I have branched off to make custom bags and out of military uniforms. I am an Air Force Brat served 6 years and am married to a wonderful man who is also in the Air Force. So I went to the quilt show on Saturday and found Super Hero fabric what a great find since I have two little Super Heroes. So I picked up Batman and Superman fabric. Worked on Batman today and got him finished. I want to wake my little man up so he can see it. Tomorrow I will be tackling Superman.
